Photo Description This is the beautiful result. It is now taller than he is! In my mind, this is just another example of finding joy and beauty in each day "without" opening your wallet.
This is a garden photo, yet a thrifty photo at the same time.:) I took my son to a local free carnival recently. Free food, free games, crafts, etc....a frugal paradise! They had a free "planting station" where the children could choose a seed and plant it themselves.
This tiny seed started in a humble Dixie cup, migrated to a broken plastic pot, and my son took painstakingly good care of his flower, until he decided to find his Daddy's shovel and transplant it in the the yard.

Gotta love it. The simplest things in life are free!
Love this kind of post!
Good idea. Handsome boy too!
I love letting my kids out in the garden to see what they can grow. They love it and I love having little helpers with the digging! Very cute picture!
This is an incredible lesson for kids. This is one he will not easily forget. A good example for the rest of us.
Thank you Frickester, I agree. Years back we were in a different financial situation. Money was no real object, and my children pretty much got what they wanted whenever they wanted it.
What a wonderful photo and a great way to spend time with family! There are so many places around with free activities for children and families.
The green thumb prevails. Nice flower.
Even though I entered this contest myself, I voted for your photo! I loved the story, and kids are so full of wonder!
