I thought I was pretty clever to freeze partial bottles of water into ice. Then I can just add either more water, juice or other drinks to when I head out the door for a walk, gardening or on the road! Saves me money on drinks that might not be healthy for me and stays pretty cold longer! :D

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in their newsletters worth noting...
Dioxin Carcinogens causes cancer, especially breast cancer. Don't freeze your plastic water bottles with water as this also releases dioxin in the plastic.
You MUST make sure your plastic bottles don't contain BPA chemicals in them; otherwise, the chemicals leach into the water when you refill the bottles. (I used to take half-filled bottles of frozen and fresh water to work every day until I found out that BPA has been banned in Europe and just recently banned in baby bottles here in the U.S.
My husband works outside and we've been doing this for years. We use the metal bottles, tilted to the side; so it won't get damaged, and he carries 3-4 with him a day to try and beat the humid North Carolina summers. We got the tip from another man he works with.
Not only is freezing the water bottles a health hazard, but also leaving them in a car! The heat and sunlight will make the dangerous chemicals leach into the water too.
This tip for freezing water in water bottles is okay if you plan to use them as freezer/cold packs for your cooler - but don't drink the water!
I wouldn't want ANYONE to get sick so I am correcting this by saying to USE METAL CUPS to freeze your water!!!!
There is supposedly some type of plastic cups that do not transfer into the water as well. I don't know the name of the product but thanks to all of you who provided info regarding this!!
