Freezing Apples?

I want to keep the nutrients and fiber in the apple skins. All freezing instructions say to peel the apples. Is that really necessary?

You can freeze apples with skin! It actually protects them better and less browning. You will see and enjoy!

It is not. However, it is a timesaver since most recipes call for peeled apples.

What are you going to use them for when you defrost them?

If you are freezing for pies or dumplings, you may want to peel them now as they are harder to peel after freezing.

If you are going to make applesauce or smoothies with them, you can leave the peel and just blend well--pulling out any skins that get too tough before you serve.

They actually freeze better (hold their shape, if you leave the peel on).
