Does anyone know if Paula Deen's gooey butter cakes freeze well? I need to make one for an event and would like to make it ahead of time.
Cheryl from Rehoboth, DE
yes, you can freeze Paula Deen's Gooey Butter Cakes. Freeze as whole or already sliced. Use plastic wrap. I have kept them up to a month.
Fir a whole cake, wouldnt foil be better? Ir at least the plastic and then the foil?
Do you freeze the cake before or after its baked and how long does it last in freezer? Also who knows how to defrost. I have read for example an apple pie can be frozen before its baked but needs to go in the oven frozen this way it doesnt get soggy
How long do you take it out to unfreeze?
Just for everyone's info, the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake was around the south for many years before Paula Dean had a TV show!!
The Gooey Butter Cake is a St. Louis original. NOT Paula Deen or the south's creation. We are very proud of our cake that was a mistake a German Bakery in South St.
