Freezing Tomato Paste

Gold Post Medal for All Time! 677 Posts

A blob of tomato paste on plastic wrap.Sometimes you only need a little bit of tomato paste, and the rest of the can spoils before you get a chance to use it. The pre-packaged 1-2 Tbsp. pouches are costly. Here is how to use it all:

  1. Open both the top and bottom lids with the can opener.

  2. Remove one lid.

  3. Push out a small amount from the other end that still has the lid on it. Cut off the tomato paste and place on a small piece of plastic wrap. Wrap well.

  4. A small can of tomato paste will have 10 1-tablespoon portions.

  5. Store the wrapped pieces of tomato paste in the freezer. They will keep a very long time.
