Freezing Veggie Wraps?

July 18, 2009

A tortilla sandwich wrap with lots of fresh veggies. My husband wants to make all his veggie wraps for the week and keep in fridge, but they get soggy. Can these be frozen? Does anybody have any ideas on how to keep these fresh?

Yes, they can be frozen and won't get soggy!

Take what he wants for the day each morning straight from the freezer. (wrap them individually in wax paper and then place all in a large baggie or plastic container with a lid when freezing)

If he has a microwave at work he can either put them in the work freezer or fridge. If no microwave, don't refrigerate and they should be just about right by lunchtime ;-) I do this with wraps of all sorts and even individual pieces of cooked chicken often with no problem. Just make sure if no microwave that they're kept at room temp to be completely thawed by mealtime ;-)

No. When you freeze than thaw veggies, it breaks down the cells of the vegetable and releases the water, which makes it soggy. You need to make them fresh.
