Another 15 days of community quarantine implemented in my region since Covid-19 positive cases are still adding up. We're like stuck for 3 months left with no choice but to obey the rules. More quarantine means more kitchen hacks and experiments. Today I'm gonna cook crispy sardines and sausages straight from their cans.
Ingredients:
- 1 can (60g) sardines
- 1 can (60g) sausage
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/3 cup corn starch
- pinch of salt and pepper
- chopped scallions
- oil for cooking
Steps:
- Combine flour, corn starch, salt and pepper.
- Drain sardines and set aside the sauce. Same with sausages but you can throw away its water. Carefully roll them in flour mixture.
- Fry until all sides are light brown.
- Get the sardines sauce. Add the remaining or excess flour mixture onto it and add chopped scallions.
- Mix to incorporate very well.
- Form them into balls and fry until sides are golden brown (they look like nuggets).
- Add them up to the platter.
- For the sauce I mixed up a tablespoon of sweet and spicy banana ketchup, 1 tsp. soy sauce 1 1/2 tsp. lime juice, a pinch of pepper and a drop or two of pure honey. I heat it up in pan for a minute or two. You can always make your own favorite sauce.
- Serve and enjoy.
