My outside receptacles are protected by a GFCI which I blew the other day. The circuit appears to be an extension of my bath circuit which didn't go out. This is a new house to me. The circuit breaker did not trip, but there is no power to the GFCI any longer. One week later the power comes back on at the GFCI and all is working properly.
I checked all the wire nuts I could find in the circuit and all seem good. So I tripped the GFCI again and now once again no power in the wires feeding the GFCI. One week later the power comes back on. Short of ghosts, any ideas?

GFCI's do not reset themselves, yet yours are resetting.
If wet, they may need time to dry before resetting or -
With the GFCI on, see if you can kill power by shutting off the breaker in your panel. If you cannot, then it may be that these receptacles are not fed from your panel. Is it possible that these receptacles are on a neighbor's GFCI circuit?
