I think there is a lot of differences of opinion as to what (if any) the lights mean on a GFCI. The most important thing is - does it reset properly? If not then there is probably a problem and needs to be checked out (by an electrician if possible) or replaced. Most DIY people can replace a GFCI if all directions are followed (to the T!).
