In my opinion, the best place to buy your heating element is right from the Geroge Foreman website. They sell all types of replacement parts and can help you out if needed. I would rather get the right part the first time and the company is there to make sure you get it right. Check their website here and order this from them. www.georgeforemancooking.com/
First: I cannot find a George Foreman grill with this model number; 10040. Are you sure this is the correct model number?
If you are not familiar with working on appliances like this it may be best if you ask someone for assistance before you put out money for a part (unless you know for sure this is what you need as parts like this are usually not returnable so your money may be gone and still have the problem.
I have found with small appliances the easiest place to get help is the Sears Service Center as they will usually look at your item and check it out to see what parts you really need. They can usually get any part for almost any brand and their parts usually arrive with instructions on how to replace your part in your appliance.
They may want to take it in for service but you do not want that as any service is too costly - just the parts, please.

Replacing the element may be more than it's worth. There could be more underlying problems. There are video's and troubleshooting sites. Depending on if it is worth fixing , a new one may be worth it. Put it on your Holiday list! Mean while here are a few links that maybe able to help.
