Getting Cigarette Smoke Smell Out of a Coach Purse?

I ordered a Coach purse from an individual on eBay. It stinks from cigarette smoke! Do you know how I can get this stink out of my purse without having to take it to the cleaners?

Stuff it with newspaper. Wait a few days. This is an effective method and cheap.

Baking soda will soak up odors. Set an open box of baking soda inside, close the bag for several days.

I would air it out in the fresh outside air for a couple days, then put a container in it with baking soda and charcoal. They would help absorb the odor.

purchase/acquire activated charcoal sachets and place them inside the purse. There are many types and prices available but here is one: www.containerstore.com/.../123d?productId=10034576

also, I would keep the purse inside a sealed box or bag for a few days, with the activated charcoal sachets inside, and a box of baking soda outside the box. If you will leave the purse undisturbed in a box, you can also place an open container of white vinegar inside the box with the purse - vinegar is magic for getting rid of smoke odour.

In addition, I sincerely hope you left that seller really bad feedback. THose are expensive purses

I got a beautiful purse off Poshmark but wow, the smoke smell hit me when I opened the box. I tried everything - alcohol, newspaper, baking soda, fresh air, cleaners, etc. I bought a bottle of fresh wave spray and went to town - sprayed the leather everyday and left it outside out of the sun for about 2 weeks. Then I turned the whole thing inside out and washed the fabric with dreft.

Once dry I conditioned the leather with saddle soap and its now looking and smelling brand new. Absolutely no odor. Im so glad I didnt give up. You can also get small pouches of fresh wave to put inside the purse as its hanging outside. My show repair guy suggested fabreeze but I hate the floral smells. My purse now smell like leather.
