My natural hair color is dirty blonde and I decided to dye it blonde in a little bit lighter shade. The roots started growing and they are way darker and I am really not into dyeing my hair every month. I want my natural color back. I thought about dyeing it a color closer to my natural one, but the roots were always darker than the rest of my hair and I really don't want that.

Once you dye hair, there are no guarantees (especially if you dye your hair yourself from a box!) as the hair is changed chemically and permanently. From your question-you do not like the new dyed color as your roots appear darker and do not want a darker dye color to match your roots as it is too dark. With these constraints, there are few alternatives.
You might consider a hair color specialist appointment for an analysis of your hair's current condition and how to dye it to an approximate color of your natural hair.
A hair color specialist recommendation is probably the best alternative and you may have better luck with the outcome if the specialist also dyes your hair.
If you dye your hair at all, you have three choices with regards to roots. Either you need to dye the hair repeatedly when the roots begin to show, or you can use hair dye that is made for just dying the roots (comes with a little comb for application), or you can just come to terms with the fact that when your hair grows out, the roots will show.
