Getting Rid of Black Flying Insects?

Getting Rid of Black Flying Insects - black bugI moved into my home almost 3 weeks ago. We started noticing these bugs right away. They don't bite. They're only active at night time. They're attracted to light, and they come out in masses like 20-30 a night, all around 9:30-11pm. It's driving me insane. They're in my kitchen; which I might add is very clean. What are they and how do I get rid of them? Help!

It looks like some kind of beetle. Make sure you get rid of all leaks. Bugs are attracted to food and water.

These do not sound like any ordinary food & water type bugs. Are you killing them or do they disappear in the daytime?
I do not know what part of the country you live in but some bugs are more prevalent in some areas than others. I would suggest you take your photos and gather a few bugs in a zip-lock baggie and pay a visit to a pest control office. I know they will try to sell you their service but doing that is up to you.

I would use a bug bomb when they come out, after seeing where they are coming from

We have the same problem here in Tahiti. What I do is turn off all the lights in my house except one. I fill a bowl with water and hold it up close to the light. The bugs fall in the water and drown. However, you need to be careful to not hold the bowl too close to your light.I normally only have to do this for one or two nights and the bugs are gone.

We get these bugs every year. At times we just turn off all the light in the house and build a fire. The bugs are attracted to the light and fly into the fire and are burned.
