Getting Rid of Bugs in Hair?

I recently have been finding bugs. But it looks like maybe there are three different types. Some look like fuzz or dust or even lint. And some are kind of clearish. It is hard to tell what they are and they are in my hair and they go in my nose and ears and other areas of my body. I have chopped my hair off and used every kind of treatment I know of. Plus I got a prescription treatment. They won't go away. Please for the love of God, can someone please tell me what they are and how to get rid of them!

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. It sounds like you have tried a doctor, so maybe get a second opinion since the medicine has not helped.

There are a large number of folks who have posted similar issues on our beloved site (this one) Thrifty Fun. Maybe you can find some information with these links:

omg you just described exaxtly what im dealing with, i have lint bugs that are sometimes clear looking but some look wrapped in fabric threads, it almost always has a string of like silk thread attached, they have invaded our home we live on military base upstate NY ive had housing exterminator at my house 2 times and he says its lint but lint doesnt bite, they jump speraticly like a flea, they get in my hair and seem to knot it up like a chrismas bow and leave behind strands of fuzz , like cotton, at first i thought it was lice so this was 2 months ago, ive not ate or slept ive been high stress and severe anxiety to point i have been prescribed xanax now for months now trying to taper off not to become dependant but yet dealing with this is insanely difficult, i never see them fly crawl or jump unless i pick one up or comb it out my hair with lice pic then it will jump all around it seems as tho the bug its self is very small and wraps up in fabric particals to carry itself around or protect maybe? ive sprayed ive bed bug bombed ive used lice shampoo for 2 months threw out half my kids toys bagged up clothes took to laundry mat then they got in my car. please someone help me cuz im 2 more bites away from jumping off a bridge, my husband is such an ass abput it calling me crazy until he is dealing with them working 12s then sleeping the entire time home he didnt have to deal and apparently can sleep through anything.. but im not crazy they bite and it feels like no see ums. but they arnt those back home in WV they were bad and not chiggers not ever red. they will stick to ur skin even with the fiber strand it can stick prettty good,

Those are mites , dust mites. I'm going through the same experience. It's been since before Xmas I found something in my hair . Thought it was lice also. There mites . I haven't found a yet. They are white an look like actual lint. But, lint doesn't bite.

I'm having the same problem after 5 months of misdiagnosis at the er they told me it was scabies and head lice. Since I had it for 5 months they were both Very hard to get rid of . Finally after another two months they were gone. But since then I have had several breakouts of uncontrollable itching in my scalp that turn to huge pus filled blisters, they are tender and hurt. Also my skin will never be the same I go for 2 weeks ok to rashes that I can't stop itching that swell up raised red inflammation I am very depressed and my arms are so ugly from rashes scars I would love any advise.

If it is not fleas or lice, it could be bird mites. I would get an exterminator.

My apologies for just now signing on. The picture you show is identical to all 2 years of my microscopic visuals. I live in a senior property, and trying to explain this to the manager, my friends, and family, is just so stupid. I have been to doctors and they are clueless. I stopped using most of the unsafe products and bleach on my skin. I started the clove and peppermint oils etc. Then my skin got better, then they are on my scalp!!!! All I knew to use was lice shampoo, this isn't lice. So I went to another dermatologist and yesterday. He took a big plug of skin, and was very kind. I also have kept in touch with the CDC. They finally showed where the US has been put on the list of fungus, possibly mites. I don't think its mites, maybe by now you have read more about this, and the millions that are right here with you. The tickling on my scalp is subsiding. I spray clove oil, every time I feel something. This has been the worst nightmare. I have lived with clothes in trash bags, I sleep on an air mattress, I was changing my sheets everyday, there is so much to change, I have felt hopeless, panicked, angry with sons and their wives, ex husband etc.

etc... I am noticing a positive thing. I hope. I also had pretty thick long hair. I have torn my poor hair out, by using all those combs. That is the best thing, though.
You don't want the eggs hatching in your hair every day. The apt manager and I are not getting along at all. Nobody that has not experienced this, can really give you good advice. Again, hopefully you have learned more since you posted your message. I would be happy to share anything with you. It is very difficult also, when you have family that does not understand, and think its in your head, pardon the pun. Mine started out, in my ears, nose, etc. I live alone, but if someone comes over, I make them wear shoe covers. I freak out if my son and grandson come over and lay on my bed. Its crazy. Hope you don't feel alone with this. I will let you know in 10 days what the doc says. I'm still not too trusting with the doctors, but we will see.
