What kind of bug is this, where do they come from, and how can I get rid of them?

Any insecticide should do.
It looks like a run of the mill beetle (there are so many varieties that it is best if you look at yours vs. a photo), but if you are saying it is biting, that has me curious. Here is a link from Terminex with photos:
I do not endorse chemicals/insecticides because I have allergies and am very sensitive to chemicals. Most bugs, unless you have a huge infestation, can be disposed of with a simple vacuuming and cleaning.
If you have a big problem, you may need to call in the big guns, but most often, you can do this on your own.
Hope it is an easy bye bye for the bug (personally if it is just one or two, I take them outside vs. killing them...but that is me. I am very soft hearted).
