I had a puppy that died of parvo. He was only in the house for 5 days, but long enough to spread it around. My 8 year old son is devastated, but really wants a new dog still although I am so scared to get a new pup and have it catch it. How young of a puppy can I get? Should the new pup have all of his vaccines or is 2 good enough?

Parvo lasts up to 6 months inside and up to a year outside. Disinfect every surface with a bleach solution. You cannot disinfect outside. I personally would wait at least 6 months to get a new dog.
Do check with a Veterinary doctors on your idea, to get the best advice for care and situation of your family. good Luck!
You will need to check with your Vet, but usually it is 6 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks for a full series of parvo shots for a puppy. There are 3 other diseases that they vaccinate for at the same time. If you allow some time for immunity to build after the last shot at 4 months you will be looking at a puppy of 5 to 6 months of age.
