My uncle is having his 50th birthday soon. He's an avid fisherman. Can anyone think of a good gift?

Some quick ideas.
Make some bobbers from old corks.
Tie some lures from feathers and plain fish hooks.
Gift certificate from the local bait shop.
An extra reel of fishing line.
An assortment of weights.
All can be placed in a basket or net with some cute fishing designs tied on ( ie: cutouts of fish or poles, etc.).

How about one of those nylon fold up chairs that he can chunk in the trunk? That way he can sit comfortably. I keep two in our trunk at all times. Great for picnics, camping, auctions, hunting, sports events, outdoor concerts, etc.
My grandpa is a man who has all the fishing tools you could possibly ever need, so my family and I now by him things like this on holidays. A fishing reel toliet paper holder, a decoration that makes the shower spout come out the middle of a fish head's open mouth, and there are lots of cute crafts indicating "he's gone fishing" or other clever ideas.
Well, I just spoke with a co-worker who said if it were him he'd like a new graphite pole or I liked this one... A fishing net. Apparently the goo on the fish keeps them alive and when you return a fish to the water after capturing it in a net this goo comes off and the fish sometimes die.
