Making a Girl's Fan Patterned Crochet Hat

Total Time: 1 hour

Supplies:

• "I" crochet hook
• scissors
• embroidery needle for weaving in ends
• #4 worsted weight yarn...approximately 125 yards

Steps:

1. Ch 5, join to your first ch to make a ring.

 
2. Ch 3, 13 dc in your ring, join with a slip stitch to the top of your ch 3.

 
3. Ch 3, 1 dc in the same space as your ch, 2 dc in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the top of your ch 3.

 
4. Ch 3, 1 dc in the same space as your ch, *1 dc in the next stitch, 2 dc in the next stitch*, repeat steps between ** around, you will end with 1 dc, join with a slip stitch to the top of your ch 3.

5. Ch 3, 1 dc in the same space as your ch, *1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches, 2 dc in the next stitch*, repeat steps between ** around, you will end with 2 dc, 1 dc, join with a slip stitch to the top of your ch 3.

 
6. Ch 3, work 1 dc in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the top of your ch 3.

 
7. Ch 3, work 1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the same space as your ch, *skip 3 stitches, work (2dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the next stitch*, repeat steps between ** until there are 4 stitches remaining, join with a slip stitch to the top of your ch 3. *You will have a total of 13 "fans".*

8. Slip stitch in your dc and ch space, ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the same ch space. Work 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in each ch space around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of your ch 3.

 
9. Repeat the last step 5 times more, until you have 7 "fan" rows.

 
10. Fasten off and weave in ends.
