Add a twist to the classic birthday party! Instead of streamers, link together glow stick bracelets. Instead of face paint, splat glow-in-the-dark paint over everybody's foreheads and cheeks. Tell them to wear neon, florescent or white clothes, and throw in a couple of black lights on the walls or the ceiling. You can also give people black light flashlights to shine around. Rent a venue large enough for the people you're planning to invite, or host at your house. Make a playlist of your favorite songs, and dance the night away!
For food and beverages you can go many ways. If you are renting a venue, you can set up a table and have guests help themselves, or you can have a "bar" where guests can order drinks and food and be served upon. For drinks, you can serve drinks with tonic water in it. Tonic water glows under a black light. To make glow-in-the-dark glow stick cups, place a glow stick bracelet in the bottom of an opaque cup and place a clear one over it. Your drink will glow. Be sure to have guests write their names on their cups with Sharpie so they do not get mixed up.
For food, you can make any of your favorite snacks. For my party, I'm serving green apples and caramel in glow-in-the-dark bowls and platters, and pizza on glow-in-the-dark plates. Instead of cake and ice cream, I'm making a cupcake cake, and will blow out the glow-in-the-dark/sparkler candles on that. I will buy ice cream cups and let them float in a large bowl full of tonic water.
You can have games like karaoke, or a glow stick ring toss. If you want, you can have an invitation only birthday and have someone stand outside and take names or check invitations. I hope that your birthday is amazing!
