Gnats Around Guinea Pigs?

I have 4 guinea pigs. I have had them for a year and I never had gnats and now I do. I don't know what to do and I don't want to get rid of them. I love them to death.

Keep the cage as clean as possible and remove food bits between meals.

I just started getting gnats and my guinea pigs cages, I have never had this problem before, until, I had some bananas on my counter, they had gone bad and I noticed that I started getting gnats, they started all over my kitchen counters and cabinets, I have been trying the vinegar sugar and Dawn dish detergent also a spray that I got from Lowe's, but it has a greasy residue, however it works but it's very messy, and I constantly have to wipe it off, it is very time consuming, but I am more concerned about my guinea pigs, and they are in my bedroom, I want to resolve this problem, as it has been going on for days, it's very frustrating, and I have about had it I desperately need help
