I am 65 yrs old. I'm been coloring my hair at home with box color. My natural color is dark brown. 6 wks ago I went to a beauty school where they bleached my hair. It turned 3 different blonde shades. I went back and they fixed the shade, but the roots in front were gray. I waited 4 wks went back and had them do my roots. When I came home the roots were still gray?

Put 30 volume developer on the roots. Wait 10 minutes. Rinse out and dry. Apply regular dye as usual
I actually have had the same problem myself with gray roots so even though it was bleached and the gray roots were still showing I still used the regular box color that I normally used on it I just let it sit on the gray about 10 to 15 minutes longer than I did the rest of my hair. That actually worked just fine and I didn't have to use any other additives or anything I just used the regular box color that I normally use in the first place.
Have you talked to the head of the school? Student stylists need to learn to keep their clients happy and resolve client issues quickly and promptly. Ideally your return visit should be a teachable moment and a free treatment for you.
