Thank you Judy for that tip. I never knew that. Every week I throw out the tops of celery, and I just never even thought the tops would grow more celery! That's amazing to me:)

You can grow a lot of food from scraps, like carrots, onions and potatoes. I'm going to do more.

Thanks so much, I honestly never knew that.

I've only grown spices on my kitchen counter where it extends outwards by the sink and into the sunlit area.

But right now I am growing something, for the first time in my life, my wonderful hubby surprised me with a little "Grape Tomato" plant about 3 weeks ago, and it was only about 10" high, and now, it's about 2 feet high with little yellow flowers all over it. So I'm in the growing mood, haha and totally excited about it.

And to know celery tops can grow more celery, that really is exciting to know. I'm all jazzed up about this.

Question: Will the celery grow in good sized planter pot?
Our backyard is all concrete (cool-decking) actually and one
year wanted to have the pool filled in, but, resale won't be as
much without a pool in this desert, so it's an empty pool as we don't use it much. And I'd rather have dirt to grow things we can eat, so 'one day' when we move.

But for now, things I can plant in a pot would be more than great.

I looked up "line carrots" as you'd mentioned, but I don't know what those are. Do you mean, growing in a row? as in a line?
I'm probably sounding like an idiot, haha but I'm curious, so thank you.

I think it would grow in a large pot

I believe "line carrots" is a typo...I think the intended phrase was "like carrots"--as in, you can grow several foods from scraps, like carrots and celery.

Thank you najarfam. I get it now.

I didn't know as I truly thought some wild things, because I'd never heard of them-and I've never grown things to eat, I've only grown house plants.

I know about hydroponics and veggies, and the other thought I had was, maybe they hang from a line, haha Silly me...but, ya never know with science and agriculture the way it's going.

Thanks again.

Line carrots was a typo. I fixed Judy's initial comment.

Yes, the roots come out of the base of the celery.
