I have a forsythia hedge in the back of the yard and I'd like to start one in the side yard. I plan on growing them from cuttings off my existing plant. How long will it take to establish a hedge row?

They grow up to 24 inches a year. You can just put the cuttings in the ground and they will grow.
We grew a 70 foot long hedge from cuttings. We cut branches from bushes that grew through our fence, after they were through flowering in the spring. We were told that we had to use short cutting but we used 4 foot long cuttings. We took all the leaves off the bottom of each stem, dipped them in root hormone and planted them 10 stems to an 8 inch deep hole filling it in with peat moss and top soil. We put a soaker hose down the length of the entire row of plant cuttings. We did them all in the same day. We were slap happy near the end. We planted them about 12 inches apart. They all took.
