As a Vet Tech, I urge you to get your dog to your vet ASAP. It could be nothing but a fatty cyst, but it could also be something far worse.... only your vet should make a diagnosis and come up with a treatment plan. Your dog is part of your family and deserves to be seen by a vet. Good luck with your dog.

You should make an appointment & take your pup to your vet for an evaluation.

I think this is a cyst, the most likely sebaceous cyst, but you should see your vet and have it examined.

This growth looks like a cyst.
Cysts are formed by a sac-like pocket of tissue that is filled with fluid, air or other substances.
Cysts may appear as red and swollen masses, and they may contain a black center.

Discharge from the cysts may be white, yellow or green and, depending on their location, they may be tender.
Cysts can occur anywhere on the body and at any age.
Cysts can both increase as well as decrease in size over time.
Cysts might be able to move around under the skin.
Cysts themselves are almost always benign, but certain types of cancer can cause cysts.
There are many types of cysts.

Causes of a cyst:
an injury or irritation to a cell,
a clogged duct within a hair follicle or pore,
the gradual deterioration of tissues within the joints,
failure to shed dead skin cells,
when the normal shedding of skin is inhibited, the bodys typical immune response seals off the area with old skin cells that died to prevent an infection.

It may be possible to recognize a cyst during a physical exam, but most likely the veterinarian will do other tests like ultrasounds, mammograms, CT scans, MRI scans, but only a biopsy will confirm whether the growth is cancerous or not.

Your veterinarian should perform a physical examination and additional diagnostics to determine the type of cells that comprise the mass. I had a bad experience, so I ask you not to postpone the visit to your vet.
