Well HJC is a brand name, they make a line of motorcycle accessories. And shield is the plastic visor that is molded to fit a certain helmet that covers your face keeping everything from wind to debris from hitting your face. You could use a set of goggles instead of a shield but it wouldn't offer as much protection.
