We are throwing a Halloween dance at my middle school and I'm in charge of running the contest, but I'm having a hard time thinking of any thing that middle schoolers would enjoy. Please help!

You could make it a costume contest and break it down into categories such as most original, most outrageous, best couple, not couple like boyfriend and girlfriend but couple as in it takes 2 to pull the costume off like M&Ms or a horse where someone is the head and someone is the back. Once you decide your categories, you can have whoever is planning on participating register in the category they plan on entering. Just have them register what their costume will be not necessarily their names. Then you can make up voter ballots with the categories and registered costumes.
middle schoolers don't always like costume contest but you don't have to ear costumes. you could allow some leisure with a scariest contest where everyone runs with a costume or not or certain Halloween theme like most likely to be a which when they are older or most like count Dracula..
