I made this tree skirt for a friend who leaves her Christmas tree up all year around and decorates it for the holidays.
Total Time: 2 hours
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- Halloween fabric
- thread
- pattern
- scissors
- pins
- bias tape
Steps:
- Using Halloween fabric (which was given to me), I found a Christmas tree skirt pattern in my files and made a paper pattern for the panel using a large piece of paper. Cut out eight panels using coordinating fabric by pinning the paper pattern to the fabric.
- Sew the panels together along the side, leaving the last two panels open. Iron.
- Lay the "skirt" onto a large piece of fabric. Pin the panels to the fabric and cut around, making a slit where the opening is located. Right sides together, pin and sew along the opening edges and around the outer edges of the circle. Leave an opening for turning along one of the side "slits." Turn and press.
- Lay the skirt on a flat surface. Using a small dessert plate, place in the center of the skirt and draw around the plate. Cut this opening with scissors. Use bias tape around the raw edges to finish the seam.
