I've been trying for a long time to come up with an idea on how to store my many pairs of shoes. After a long time of thinking, I came up with the idea to store them on a chain.
I bought two metres of link chain on Amazon and I purchased the 'S' hooks. Yesterday, the white plastic-coated hooks arrived and I tried out my idea. I put a white hook into the ceiling and then hung the chain from it. It is in a small hallway and the lowered part of the ceiling is the height of a inner door. I managed to put seven pairs of my shoes onto the chain and a pair of long boots. I could quite easily have added 6- 7 more shoes instead of putting on the long boots. The boots were hung via a small bulldog clip holding them together.
I am thrilled that it worked! I am now going to add a few chains in my walk-in wardrobe to store my other shoes and boots. The great thing about this idea is a column of shoes take up very little space and can hold many pairs of footwear. Oh, and did I mention that's it very thrifty?

I managed to add more pairs of shoes as well as hanging the long boots. I can't say how pleased I am to come upon an ideal solution for my shoe storage problem!
Monique :)
That is a great idea, and I'm going to do this. I am always looking for storage solutions because our house has no closets fur to it's age.
I am just as thrilled to know this tip helps someone else!
I've been thinking that it could very well be used for alternate storage for handbags or even clothes on hangers.
I'd welcome any other suggestions people may have.
Thanks again, Robyn!
