They sell filler strips. You can also explain your situation to an experienced hardware specialist and they'll help guide with ideas.

Perhaps some of these instructions could help you if you have the all of the necessary "tools" and can follow instructions for someone that has done this type of thing before - otherwise this type of instruction can just be frustrating.
- My first thought would be to ask family/friends/coworkers if they know a handyman that can help you fit your door (it will be a lot easier with 2 people).
- If no results that you wish to consider then Google handyman to fix door with your zip code and start calling for an estimate to do this job.
- this may seem like an easy job to some but I can tell you - for the inexperienced - it can become a nightmare and your door may never work properly.
- I believe you can ask almost any finish carpenter about fitting a door and they will probably tell you it can be one of the hardest things to do as everything has to be lined up properly and the hinges and latch and latch strike have to line up properly or the door will not open and close properly.
- Yes - they do sell a filler board to take up the space that your door does not fit but be sure you have decided how you are going to attach this piece - glue/nails - and also know what kind of latch strike you will need as well as how you plan to carve out the hole for the latch strike (unless you plan to remove the latch strike from the original door frame). So be sure you have everything you need before you leave the store.
- Home Depot is a good place to shop as they may also have a leaflet showing you how to fit your door as well as a list of everything you will need.
- They will also usually have names of carpenters that might be able to do this job for you.
- If you still wish to do this yourself - Here is the clearest video that I have seen (you may have to follow the complete video several times):
