Silver Post Medal for All Time! 408 Posts Make this card for a friend or colleague to share happy thoughts on Independence Day. The card features the colors and some of the symbols associated with this important day, and it is a great way to remind the recipient to be grateful for the freedom that is celebrated on July fourth.
Total Time: 15 minutes
Yield: one greeting card
Supplies:
- photocopy of a map of North America and the USA
- 5.6 x 8.2 inch red cardstock
- A6 sized blue-and-white striped cardstock
- left-over pieces of red, blue, and white cardstock
- Artline 210 Fineliner black pen
- red glitter glue pen
- Elmer's Poster Tack
- three small 3D self-adhesive foam squares
- round plastic lid with a diameter of 1.6"
- pencil
- ruler
- pair of standard scissors
- quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
Steps:
- Score the red cardstock to create a card sized 5.6" x 4.1".
- Use a piece of poster tack to affix the photocopy of the map to the blue-and-white striped cardstock. Cut out the map of the USA along the border lines, and remove the poster tack and photocopy, so that the map of the USA will remain on the cardstock. With the fold at the top, centre, and glue the map to the front of the card.
- Cut five ovals from the left-over cardstock ~ two white, two blue, and one red. Glue these on the card to add balloons to the card. Affix the red balloon with the 3D foam squares, but use glue for the rest. Use the Artline pen to draw the strings of the balloons.
- Use the plastic lid to trace a circle on the blue cardstock and cut it out. Draw a star on the white cardstock and cut it out. Glue the star on the blue circle. Use the Artline pen to add the number 4 to the star, and add a red border around the star with the glitter glue. Allow to dry for a minute or two before continuing with the next step.
- Glue the circle-and-star combination to the bottom right of the card.
