I got my tongue pierced a week ago and I have a hard lump next to the piercing, it doesn't hurt much, but if I push it the wrong way it feels like pins and needles or burnt taste buds. Is this normal? I've asked different people and some say it's normal and others freak out and tell me to go to a doctor!

Pain is not normal. See a doctor. It may be infected.
My swelling has just gone down in the last couple days!! As for the bump its been there since the second day.
This sounds like you might have some sort of an infection next to the piercing on your tongue. You can try talking to the people who pierced your tongue and see if there is some sort of a mouth wash you can use.
Please check with your doctor or dentist! If you have to ask here, you are concerned, so for peace of mind get it checked! Post back with an update! Prayers for healing!
Will do, I go in this Tuesday.
Sounds like you have some infection, the great part is that it is slowly healing.Watch it closely! Contact doctor for changes!
I had the same infection when I had mine pierced in college. I used sea salt rinses daily and it went away, but I did have the tech who pierced me check it out. You should too!
Are you using mouthwash regularly?
Ask youre piercer. They dont mind.
Tongue piercing takes a while to heal, but you want to make sure its healing properly.
My piercer told me not to use mouth wash and just use sea salt! I have an appointment on Tuesday just to check it out!
