I am a senior living on a fixed income. I am trying to find out how I can maybe get a voucher to purchase a stove and refrigerator. I do not have the resources to buy them, please help.
There are a few organizations like the Odd Fellows or the Rebecca's that help seniors. I am not exactly sure how this works. I know my mother applied for help and received a voucher to help her purchase these appliances.
You can also try a website called FreeCycle. You can join this site for free. Once you've joined you can enter your request. There are people who are looking to donate their appliances because they have purchased new ones or they no longer need the ones they have.
Otherwise you can try asking the pastor of the church you attend. Many times the congregation will donate money to help its members. The pastor normally makes these types of announces at Sunday services.

This site is a confidential and free and easy resource service to help people 55 years and older locate and apply for benefits. There are numerous financial assistance programs, both public and private, that can help struggling Seniors trying to make ends meet. The site has information on more than 2000 programs. Many are available to anyone in need who qualify, while others are available only to older adults and can help them retain their independence.
Craigslist.org also has a 'free stuff' area-- check that out. Good luck to you!

It may be very difficult (if impossible) to get vouchers to buy new appliances but you may be able to get help with getting used appliances. If you want new appliances most people would say to look for a store that will let you make small payments and purchase one (stove?) and when that is paid for you could purchase other items. Badcock Furniture has very good appliances and their prices are usually comparable with other stores and they are known for working out payment plans for low income people. I feel sure their is a store in your area (and - they deliver).
You may be able to find free appliances on Freecycle or Craigslist but who will deliver and install (and will they be in working order)? Perhaps you have someone to help you with pick up and set up but if not, then I feel your choices may be limited to maybe asking for help at close by churches or even thrift stores (Salvation Army, Interfaith Organization, Habitat) and they may require you to have someone pick up the items.
It may take many phone calls and "leg work" to find help with appliances.
