I tried to clean and organize and ended up writing, instead! I hope you who can relate will enjoy, and those who can't will soon!!
HELP! I LIVE IN A CRAFT ROOM
By Sandra Allen
I chuckled at my place today
As slowly I had found
I have a place in my craft room
Not the other way aroundSo often I have lived in spaces
Too small to change my mind
Without going to other places
Leaving sanity behindI've heard it called a curio shop
Or you've got a lot of stuff
But do any of them ever stop
To wonder just how toughIt is to fit it all just right
And make it to my chair
To find a place that's out of site
Or tabletop that's bareWith colored ribbon and some yarn
Plus scissors, buttons, and bows
I pretty much just need a barn
For things I make with thoseHooks and patterns abound within
Fabric and threads in tubbies
Held together with a safety pin
Stuffed together in cubbiesI sleep among some tables
Piled high with goodies galore
Mixed in with computer cables
So sure I can't fit any moreBut to those who see my stash
They all must remember this
I make just enough of the cash
To keep me in crafters blissSo judge me not those who dare
To understand my parody
Crafts are so much cheaper fare
Then undergoing therapyNow I'm off to make something
I know not what just yet
But as I spend less than I bring
I will never be in debt
The start, the middle, but not the end. For I am convinced I will shuffle off this mortal coil, impaling myself with a spoon of Nutella while tripping over a bag of yarn because I was watching a youtube video on a crochet stitch.

Charming!
Thanks!! I sat down, and couldn't stop till it was done.
I understand & feel your thoughts...all the kids are out on their own & my precious husband died 3 1/2 years ago...and I still have every room, every closet and the 2 car garage filled up....I have spent the last 9 months, cleaning out, sorting ,donating and throwing out things I haven't seen, touched or even thought of in well over 10years and the accumulation seems to be every where...After more than 50 of yard, estate sales etc.etc I FINALLY QUIT LAST NOVEMBER,2019...so that should stem the flow of more accumulation....I retire in 18 months & I DO NOT WANT TO SPEND MY RETIREMENT CLEANING OUT & GETTING RID OF THINGS -I have gotten rid of over half of the 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house...I began with Marie Kondo's guidelines in January 2019...& continued on..except for a few more huge totes in the garage, I know what I have & it brings joy to me....now for the rest!
So cute!
When we built our house, I asked for a craft/sewing room. I don't spend as much time as I'd like to in it, but when I can, it's like therapy. I have an old stereo and play my favorite CDs.
If I finish all the projects I have, plus all the books I want to read and movies I want to see, I figure I need to live to be at least 90-95.
For me, I can never die! Hehe
Just loved your poem, only use crafters would understand. love from Australia a sister in craft.
Thanks! Send me a photo of what you do!
YES! YES! YES! MY SISTER!
A sister from another mister!!
Adorable! Funny! Relatable! That is how craft projects evolve and how we crafters create! Very sweet......
Thanks! I justify my stuff by making and selling things, or posting here. It really is a lot cheaper than therapy and my people all love what I make, esp' if it's for them!!
I truly understand.sewing patterns in my dresser, yarn in a tote waiting to become an Afghan, dish towels waiting to have a top on them waiting patiently in a tote, boxes of fabric scraps waiting to become a quilt. I really, really do understand.Happy crafting my friend.
Sounds like something you could/would write and many can relate but not just crafts!
Me and my plant shed and hothouse are in the same boat and with winter on its way (to Florida) it's even more crowded.
Hmmmmm how about one for shop? You may have inspired me!!
Yep :).
Yip.....I have said several times that I have a bed, kitchen and bathroom in my craft house......
I'm in the same boat. I'm 64 and widowed, with one calico cat. I have a three bedroom house and no room for guests !!! I do the following crafts: sew, quilt, knit, crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, bead-wire & gemstone jewelry, weave baskets, do stained glass, seashell crafts, leatherwork and woodworking, plus I have a big vegetable garden each summer, I read a lot, I feed & watch the wild birds, I'm deep into genealogy, and I like to fish....
