I have this black baby doll that is I believe is made of composition, but I'm not positive. The arms and legs are held together with rubber bands. The hair, eyes, red fingernails, and facial features are all painted. The diaper/underwear is hand-sewn. There are no markings anywhere that I can find. Can anyone help me in identifying the year, and possibly the maker and any other information about him. I am interested in selling him and would like to know where the best avenue would be to sell him.
Thank you for any information about this little guy.
How tall is it? It looks like a 30's dream baby doll (composition) that someone tried to repaint the eye brows.
Knowing the height may help.
Are you asking to sell or just to get more info? If it is to sell, I can offer some additional info on trying to sell even if you can't get a firm ID (which you may not).
Let me know! Thanks!
This is an antique composition baby doll.
It is very difficult to determine the manufacturer of the doll if there is no stamp.
The American Ideal Toy Company began making composition dolls in 1907. They produced over 200 variations of dolls throughout the composition era.
Composition doll manufacturing lasted until the late 1940s in the U.S., when plastic began to be used for dolls.
You did not write the size of your doll.

Cute doll..
It usually takes someone with a lot of 'doll' knowledge to identify dolls that have no distinct markings.
There are some other members who may be able to help you with types and years.
