Everybody wants to have the best looking cake. Since it's summer season in my country, I get a few demands of tropical or summer themed cakes. Today I'm gonna show you how to make realistic hibiscus flower gumpaste, beginner level.

Supplies:
white fondant/gumpaste
Baking carving tools or small knife
fondant wires
rolling pin
gel food color
powder food color
paint or make up brush (recommended)
Steps:
Divide the gumpaste in portions and color each piece with different gel food color. Set them aside while you prepare the wires.
Cut fondant wire into six equal pieces.
Tape them all together from the bottom to midline. Then cover tightly with kitchen foil or plastic wrap /cling wrap.
Bend five wires backwards and leave one standing in the center. This will help the fondant stay in place. Set aside.

Choose one colored portion and divide them into small pieces for the petals. Each flower will consist of five petals so you'll need 5 small pieces and one for the stamen part.
Use a rolling pin to flatten and cut a petal shape.
Draw lines in the surface of the petal to add details.
Carefully insert petal following the curves of the wire. Be careful not to break or tear the fondant. Do the same with all other petals.

Roll a thin elongated shape and insert in the middle wire for the stamen.
Carefully make tiny cuts on its sides from top to bottom. See photo.
Allow the gumpaste to harden.
Use contrasting colors for the details. Darker shades of powder food color will make it look more realistic.
You can start decorating your cake as soon as it's done.
