Home Repair Grants for a Disabled Woman?

I had a roof that leaked and now have mold in several rooms, also with windows that are rotting out, and holes in my floors. I do not have money to fix these problems. Are there any grants for someone like me?

I assume you are talking about a house you either own or that you are buying.

You will have to research what type of help is available in your area.

Grants are rarely giving for things like this and I have found that a "grant" is not easy to obtain for anything. Lots of paperwork.

You are looking at costly major repairs that may be impossible to get done unless your area has companies that "donate" work like this.

Have you asked for help at your church?
You can ask for assistance at your Salvation Army as they usually have names of companies and community organizations that offer help to qualified families in need.

It is possible you will be advised to move if your house is deemed "unsafe" or unhealthy due to the mold.

Getting this kind of help is not always easy as you will be required to "prove" that your "extra" finances are nonexistent and that you cannot find a way to pay for these repairs. Also, that you are too disabled to do any of the work yourself. This may sound harsh but these organizations get hundreds of requests for help each year so they have to try and help the most "needy". As a general rule - families with children will be at the top of the list.

You can try calling 211 (or research 211 on your Internet) as this is a service that has names of organizations that may be able to help.
