I live in NE Oregon and just came up on a trailer and we need help to fix it. I'm disabled with two kids and on a fixed income. My husband can fix it we just need resources and maybe some help for my husband so we can move in and live in it instead of a motel. I have already signed up for HUD and section 8, but there is a very long waiting list. Advice plz.

I have a few suggestions I hope are helpful:
1. You mention you are disabled...is there a national or local organization for your condition? I know from personal experience, for example, that the MS Society helps people make modifications to their home...I don't know if that includes repairs, but it did include bathroom updates for safety. Your local United Way office may be able to point you in the right direction. This is their link uweo.org/
2. Have you tried a carpenter union or trade school to see if your work could be part of a supervised student/intern project? There are two links for those type places in your area:
www.google.com/
3. If you belong to a church or other religious group, do they have discretionary funds which can be used to help you? That is very popular where I am on the east coast.
4. Since you have computer or access to one, have you tried a Go Fund me or like service to crowd source fund raising? There is no shame in asking for help (I always recommend paying it forward when you can to keep the good Karma going, but that is just me). These sites are fairy easy to use and you post your link on social media and it can be swept into your bank account if you have one. Just be aware of you go this route to tell the person doing your taxes so you don't get dinged by the IRS because some amounts (not sure exactly how much) becomes considered income vs a gift.
Good luck with your quest! Where there is a will there is a way!!
