My friend is an aging parent of a 45 year old son who requires 24 hour awake nursing care. My friend and her husband provide this care and sleep in shifts to keep their home ICU running, They have done this for years for their son and his brother who passed away a few years ago from the same degenerative disability. Now, their home needs some repairs, repairs are half finished inside and the parents are too old and tired now to manage. Of course they are on a low income because they are full time caregivers and pensioners themselves.
The backyard has a memorial pond and garden for their son Michael who passed away, but it is in great disrepair and this is a source of real sadness for my friend. The yard needs major work and there is little water to sustain a garden - concrete is the only answer. Does anyone know of a charity that might help? I have already contacted Habitat and Love Inc. which I found by reading the forum here. I am hoping there might be some additional resources you folks might know about too. Thank you!
