With 3 dogs and 5 kids, it's hard to keep stuff smelling nice. Febreeze is about $8-10 dollars a bottle, so I make my own.
Put 1 part water and 1 part vinegar in a spray bottle, add a couple squirts of hair conditioner. Shake well.
I spray it all over every day the couches, blankets, and clothes. It works really well. Instead of conditioner, you can use 20 drops of essential oils.

Smelling nice? I don't want my house smelling like perfume. If everything is clean there is no smell at all, like hanging your clothes on the clothes line (using unscented laundry soap of course).
It will not smell like perfume, it just smells fresher. Yes, and everything has to be clean, agreed.
\ould this work with a tiny amount of fabric softener?
Also, will vinegar effect fabrics?
Great idea! Febreeze is heavily scented, with things I don't want to smell like.
I just left the store and for fabreez is only $5. Making your own still saves money, however.
