How and when did you get your pet?
Honey was rescued from a breeder when she was a puppy. Although many of the dogs who were rescued at the same time were poorly cared for and abused, Honey was young enough that she just needed a family to love her. She was an adorable bundle of fluff when we adopted her at 3 months old.

The NW Chow Chow Rescue found homes for all the rescued dogs, but were particularly careful with the disposition of the puppies. They thought my small family with two young boys was a great fit. We signed an agreement to have her spayed as soon as she was old enough and also promised to have surgery done to correct her entropion, where the eyelashes turn inward. She has had two different operations to keep them from scratching her eye. There is some visible damage on one eye and I don't think she can see that well, but it doesn't seem to bother her at all.

What does your pet like to do for fun?
As you can see, Honey loves to go to the beach. Honey is much less active that she was a few years ago. She spends a lot of time sleeping near the front door or out in the sun. Sometimes when she is particularly happy, she will roll around on her back and make little yips and barks of joy. This happens when the sun is shining, the doors are open, and all her people are safe and sound.

Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
Honey is very protective of the family. She is our bodyguard. I call her "Secret Service" because she is always nosing past me when we walk, keeping me safe. She sleeps in the hallway outside our bedrooms at night often, especially if we have a guest. And if we are sick, she will often want to sleep right in the room.

Honey does require a bit of time for brushing and caring for her long coat. She will get mats and hot spots if we don't keep on top of it. Sometimes, we have shaved her entirely, except for her head. She doesn't seem to mind at all, but she does look pretty funny like that.

Sounds like she fits right in with your family and lives up to her name. May she live a long and healthy life.
