Gold Post Medal for All Time! 677 Posts I made it in the instant pot. It can alternatively be slow-cooked on high for 3 hours. It can even be pan fried, then add the sauce, and simmer till the chicken is done. It turned out delicious and was done in about half an hour. The instant pot is very quick and pays for itself quickly as you do not have to rely on takeout when time is tight.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 4 servings
Source: Instant Pot Community on Facebook
Ingredients:
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1.5 lb (4) chicken thighs
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- chopped parsley (optional- I added green onions during the cooking process instead)
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 1 tsp sugar or brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp chicken broth (use water in a pinch)
- 3 dashes cayenne pepper
Steps:
- Rinse off chicken and pat dry. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Mix the sauce ingredients (honey, sugar, soy sauce, chicken broth and cayenne) in a bowl. Make sure the honey and sugar are dissolved.
- Set the instant pot to sauté. When pot is hot, add 1/2 T of the oil. Sear the chicken, skin side down first, until it is nicely browned.
- Add the remaining cooking oil and sauté the garlic.
- Pour in the sauce.
- Cover the pot. Set the cooker to cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
- Do a quick release. Add the parsley, if using, and serve immediately.

It's whole grain spaghetti, that absorbed the sauce.
