Mine just started dumping the water also..I am trying to find a solution..it has to be the gasket below where the water bottle sits. I just haven't had time to take it apart yet..when I do I will post it for you.

Have you tried taking the piece out and repositioning it? It may not be seated correctly. We have this happen sometimes on ours. Sometimes it takes a few on and off tries before I get it right (we have a Ready Clean model).

If you have gone that route already, try running your finger around the connector pieces to feel (you may not see it, but you may feel it) to make sure there is not a small crack or chip. That could be the problem. Luckily we had a problem with ours while still under warranty and it was replaced for free.

You can always call their customer service and see if they can help. The link is www.bissell.com/support

Good luck! Hope this helps.

Its the grommet that the water tank sits on.

I had the same problem after loaning mine out - I am very disappointed. The person who borrowed it has said nothing.

I took my fh 50150 apart since it is leaking water as well. Hoses are tight with no leaks. Seals are tight but I Vaselined them anyhow....still leaking.

The resevoir assembly is the problem with my machine. The small rubber piece that controls the solution flow when you pull the trigger does not fully snap back to a "closed" position and leaves a small air gap that allows the cleaning solution to keep flowing from the tank. I found no obstruction like dirt so I think the rubber piece is fatigued and doesn't function correctly any more. Remove the collection tank and lean the handle all the way flat. 4 screws hold it in place....just neeed to detach the hoses and swap in a new part.

My parents just had the same problem. They took it to Godfrey's but it came back after a month or so and the report said the pump was broken and they could not find a replacement. That cost them $100. So I found a replacement pump after a 30 second google search. But before I ordered it I stripped down the Hoover unit to check the pump and hoses. It turned out that there is a rubber grommet that the detergent dispenser pushes against when you push it in place.

I found that grommet wedged in the top of the dirty water container. Without that grommet the detergent container will leak, and it gets worse if you pull the trigger to pump the detergent. And in our case, the pump wasn't broken at all.

I found that the little black seal that sits on top of the water release nozzle under the tank that holds the solution / water. That little black seal at one point was glued to the bottom and came free. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to get it back to its original state.

Like from where exactly? The tank has a knob that causes water and detergent to leak, also when you sit the tank in the base, the bottom of the base has a rubber that could be damaged

Hoover shampooers suck! Don't buy them period. You'll be throwing good money after bad. They have so many problems. My shampooers upholstery hose won't release a water spray, it stalls when it feels like it and yes mine leaks from the back also. Worst purchase I've ever made. Now that's good advice,!

leaking in bk??

When that usually happens it means that you don't have the collector container sealed tight you have to put it in kinda awkward like tilted more to the side and then push it in and make sure it's in tight and then you shouldn't have a problem with it

The connections on the bottom of the clean water tank are not lining up or the thing is worn. I bought a replacement tank and was surprised when it came with a requirement that you manually switch from wash to rinse on the tank itself. Worked good for a few times but now cant make a tight connection and water goes everywhere. Going to buy something else.

Might need to replace the resevoir assembly. Its a cheap part and is held on with 4 screws right above the waste water resevoir tank.

You have to take the water tank off and take the cover off unscrew it and you will see a valve with 2 hoses connected to them. It will get stuck open. Disconnect hoses and check valve pin. There will be a little hole , get something pointy and push the pin back into it to get it out of open position. Connect hoses and wala!

Having problem with leaking underneath as soon as I put the reservoir of cleaning solution in place....tomorrow I will try taking it apart and see if stretching the spring where the two tubes are as mentioned in other comments will solve my issue. Otherwise until now I have been very happy with my Hoover carpet cleaner.

Im not sure of this is the same problem you have or not, but I had the same issue with mine. I found that the trigger to release the water was not being held back like it was supposed to be. I took the machine apart and there was a spring inside. I stretched the spring and it fixed mine.

Hope this helps

There is a little tool on the side of your hand shampooer, it's on top labeled "cleaning tool", if you put that little tool on the part that the water comes out of, and try and seal it as best as possible, the vacuum can suck out anything that is in the sprayer, that's what we did and we got lucky that it worked. if this helps you then I'm glad!
