There are many craft projects on how to make a phone case using hot glue and baking paper. I wanted to make such a cover, but I just ran out of baking paper at home. So I thought about what can replace the baking paper. And I came up with the idea of using a baking sleeve. It is even better suited for making a phone case, as the film follows the contours of the phone better than paper.
Total Time: 30 Minutes + 1.5 hours for good hardening and drying
Supplies:
- sleeve for baking
- felt-tip pen
- ruler
- paper
- scissors
- duct tape
- hot glue
- acrylic paint
- brush
- nail polish
- lubricant
Steps:
- Turn off your phone.
- Circle the phone on paper, mark the camera area, mark the locations for connectors, side buttons. Draw a pattern. I made intersecting lines. You can choose any other pattern, the parts of the pattern must be connected. Cut out the pattern template (along the contour of the phone).
- Put the template of pattern on the back of the phone so that the camera area aligns with the marked area on the template.
- Wrap the back of the phone with a baking sleeve (double film) on top of the template. Secure the edges with pieces of duct tape. Cut off the excess. The film should adhere well to the phone.
- To easily separate the baking sleeve from the hot glue, lubricate the baking sleeve with lubricant (you can use petroleum jelly or greasy cream).
- Apply hot glue to the sides of the phone so that it slightly covers the edges of the phone on the front, but does not cover the phone screen. Remember to go around the marked locations for the connectors and side buttons. Apply hot glue around the camera area. Then squeeze hot glue along the lines of the pattern, which is clearly visible through the film of the baking sleeve. Check that all parts of the pattern are connected. Wait for the hot glue to harden well.
- Remove the phone and the template from the hot glue case. Hot glue has a slight elasticity property, so it will not be difficult to remove the phone.
Carefully separate the baking sleeve from the hot glue.
- To make the case colored, paint it. I advise you to paint only on the inside. The paint will be visible through the hot glue and your phone case will look great.
- To protect the hot glue surface and the painted surface, coat the phone case with nail polish on all sides. Leave to dry well. The phone case is ready.
