My dog, half Pit and half Shepherd, is 5 years old. We just got new carpets in only one room. She's never peed in the house before until we got the new carpet. Now she's peed at least twice, but only on the brand new carpet. Why?

She is marking her territory. Clean the carpet with an enzyme cleaner such as Nature's Miracle. Try to keep the door closed in that room.
if you take her on a lot of walks maybe she won't want to mark the territory so much. I agree about the enzyme cleaner you want to get all that odour smell out of the carpet
you could also have the carpet cleaned in case there's a particualr odour in that carpet that's attracting her; maybe something about the glue smell of it or animals that were in the warehouse the carpet was kept is setting her off
