House Training a 6 Month Old Puppy?

I have a 6 month old Pit x Cane Corso x Staff and he just isn't getting the concept of telling us when he wants to go out. We take him out and he'll do his business and we praise him and then we'll come back in and he'll still do more business inside. It's driving me insane as our flat is stinking all the time no matter how much we clean and I just don't know what to do with him anymore. I really don't want to get rid of him, but I don't know what else to do.

Clean wherever he messed with an enzyme based cleaner to get rid of the scent. Put him on a strict walking and feeding schedule. Crate him if he continues to mess. He will get the idea fast

Small dogs like this normally need to go out 30 to 45 min after they eat or even drink. At times they can pee and poop several times after they eat. In your case you will need to watch the time he eats so that you can take him out for a walk or let him out in your yard. I knokw this is hard and many people suggest crating a dog, but I have never done this.

You can try to mix 50% water with 25% each bleach and white vinegar to clean the house with this. This is what I use when my dogs have an accident and it sure gets rid of the order and they don't make a mess in the same place again. The smell is normally what drives them to go to the toilet in the home plus the age of the dog.

My experience with training puppies to go outside: It takes dedication
but they will finally grasp the idea. Keep them in a crate,
take them out several times a day and do not let them in until they have taken care of business.

then back in the crate. If possible give them and hour or so fun time outside. Never I say never let them loose in the house until they are fully trained to go outside.I have trained two puppies like this with 100% success.

First six months isn't that old...some dogs potty train at much older.

That said, it sounds like you need to first talk to the vet and make sure he doesn't have bladder stones or a urinary tract infection. The larger dogs are also prone to gastro problems including bloat which can put pressure on the urinary system.

Please get the doc checked first before anything else!

Then if the pup gets a clean bill of health, talk to the vet about the best size crate to get and do a crate training protocol. We have always crate trained and it is the best method to train for long term success!!
