House Training a Rescue Dog?

I'm so frustrated with my new rescue. I've had her for less than a week and evening potty time is very frustrating. She takes so long to pee outside at night. There are no issues in the morning in the backyard or for the dog walker mid-afternoon. Only nighttime potty breaks are problematic.

We literally walked for almost an hour tonight before she peed. Then, right before bedtime, I took her out and she wouldn't go. I come in, brush my teeth and then head towards my bedroom and noticed she peed on the carpet.

Suggestions? Please? I'm at my wits end and losing my patience. I've never had a situation like this, even with my other rescue dog.

My guess is that something happened to her at night and she is scared to go outside. I would discuss this with the vet.

Poor thing is probably stessed and scared and who knows if there is an underlying health condition going on there. Start with the vet and make sure there is no UTI or other health issue. Many bladder issues are from an underlying health issue.

If the baby gets a clean bill of health, maybe the vet can share crate retraining tips to get her back on track.

Please be patient. You will get into a good routine with time and patience! A week is still new for all involved! Prayers for all!

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Saw the vet today and he said she looks great! He suggests the issue is just with her transitioning so much in the past few weeks. He said just have consistency and find a good hot spot she likes and itll all work out. Im going to be as patient as I can!!
