My house is painted on the outside in harvest gold. We just repainted in the the same color it was when it was built in 1978. However the columns and trim around the windows were also painted in harvest gold and I am wanting to bump this color up on the columns and trim, but not sure what color will complement the gold. Also my shutters need to be painted, but what color? Most people didn't even know we had columns, because they were the same color as the house. Also our brick is a brown brick not a red brick.

I would go with white to give it a clean, crisp look.
Using a neutral shade such as ivory or beige would make your columns and trim noticeable but present a softer appearance that white. For an idea of what shade to use you might want to look at colors such as Benjamin Moore Navajo white or Winds Breath.
What a pretty setting!!
Here is website (it is on my do use list for my den) where you can upload a photo and then see what it will look like with different colors:

I like colors in threes--so the harvest gold, brown, and blue or tan and blue.
