I am about to adopt this puppy from a rescue. His foster family say they think he is a Lab mix, but I am worried he is a Pit/Terrier mix. I have a young child at home and feel that a Lab would be a better fit for us. How can I tell if this is a Lab or Pit?

He looks like a Lab mix to me also. There is only one way to find out his genetics to be tested for his DNA, to be absolutely sure. But if you think he is pit/mixed, here some info, - animals.onehowto.com/
The dog has more characteristics of a lab than a pt mix. I think if you want to adopt the dog they may allow you to take the dog to the vet to have him checked out. The vet is a good judge of the breed of the dog and would be able to tell you the mix. I know a few friends who have raised pits for a very long time and they are so good around children.
