These dolls are mass-produced, and worth $25 or less. The certificate means nothing.

Your doll may be one of 5,000 of that particular doll but several 5 thousand of similar dolls are produced by this company on a continuing basis so that is what is meant by mass produced. Even 5,000 of one type doll is enough to reduce the value of these dolls. A better production number would be one of 250 dolls if the doll was going to be of any true value.
- The value of dolls is based on the number of that particular doll or even similar dolls available (made by any one company).
- It isn't that Ashley Belle dolls are not quality dolls as well as very nice/pretty dolls but just the fact that it is a buyer's market because there are thousand of similar dolls available for sale.
- There are similar dolls mass produced by numerous companies and sold all over the world but mostly in the US. These companies do not produce as many dolls as they did in past years as the high market for dolls is no longer there.
- The doll market actually slowed down in the early 90's so now the majority of dolls are being sold on sites like eBay and Etsy. And, these sites are flooded with dolls of this type.
- There will be over 1,000,000 similar dolls on eBay on any given day. These dolls will be all sizes, shapes, brands, etc but most will be under $25 and most will never sell. Some sellers leave dolls listed for months and months (even years) and may never sell it.
- Most dolls will still be in the box, with COA because someone thought this doll would one day be valuable.
- Asking prices many times are just that - asking prices - as not many sell at a high price unless it is a very special doll (like Princess Diana).
- There are, of course, valuable, true collectable dolls that will sell for big money, but it will not be an Ashley Belle or similar brand doll.
- It is possible that your doll could be slightly more valuable since you say the date is 1968 but most people do not care about that.
- Here is a link to a doll on eBay (named Barbra) that is entirely different than yours so you can see the company even uses the names over again.
- The asking price of this similar doll is $32.50 plus the shipping charge of $29.00 so the true cost would $61.00. This doll is 31/480 so it would seem that it would be more valuable and that may be the case but what it really means is that sales were very slow for this doll and production was stopped/discontinued.
- Here is a link to Ashley Belle dolls presently listed on eBay and the sellers asking prices.
- Here is a link to the dolls actually sold over the past several months. This shows what people are actually paying for these dolls. Most of the dolls sell for less than $25.
- Here are the Ashley Belle dolls listed for sale on Etsy.
- If you would like to sell your doll it may be a better idea to list her on your local Craigslist as people like to see dolls before they pay and there would be no shipping charges.
- You could start your price higher and lower it if no one shows an interest.
