I dyed my hair today to a medium reddish brown, but after drying it I see it did not change the black dye in my hair that has been in for a year. Can I re-dye my hair or just the part that did not change?

Nothing will cover the black dye that is already in your hair. You have to wait for it to grow out and be cut off to be rid of black. There are various chemical methods of of lightening the black to a lighter color, but I'm not knowledgeable about those products. I suggest you research toner, lightener, and hair stripper. If you hair is damaged I would avoid further chemical processing.
Even if you try and re-dye your hair it won't cover up the black dye that is in your hair. You only have one choice on this one. You can try a hair stripper to remove this color and dye your hair again.
If it was a semi-permanent dye, you can dye right away. If permanent, deep-condition weekly for 4 weeks and then dye.
most definitely you will want a solution that addrresses your whole hair v/ just addressing the parts that did not dye well because you will never manage to get an even job otherwise
since dark is implicated you may have to bleach it all out and start from zero though that will have damaging implications to your hair no doubt
